I’m Gretchen Tegtman — and I absolutely love what I do.

I have been designing Custom Window Treatments in the South Atlanta area for 32 years — and I’ve seen and done it all! How did that start? My Mom joined Lady Dianne’s over 40 years ago and I started working with her a few years later. Somewhere along the way it became the thing I love most in the world. And it still is — every single day.

"My Mom taught me everything I know — from how to be a great person to how to create fabulous window treatments"

Growing up, I didn't just watch from the sidelines — I went on installations with my Mom. I learned this business from the inside out. Not just the design side, not just the fabrication side, but all of it — how something is made, how it goes up, what makes it hang beautifully and what doesn't. After 32 years I can look at a window and already know exactly how the finished treatment will behave, because I've seen every step of how it gets there. That's not something you learn in a classroom. That's something you live. 💖

Lady Dianne’s has been creating beautiful Custom Window Treatments since 1983. In those early days we were known for those gorgeous Ruffled Curtains that were everywhere in the South in the 80’s. Big. Beautiful. Completely spectacular for their time. When I came on board everything expanded — and we grew into everything you see today. Custom Panels, Valances, Roman Shades, Motorized Draperies, Motorized Shades, Outdoor Shades, Outdoor Draperies, Outdoor Cushions & Pillows, Custom Bedding, Headboards, Window Seat Cushions, Wallpaper and so much more — almost everything fabricated right here in our South Atlanta workroom, and every single one installed by our expert team right here in the South Atlanta area.

Every project is unique. Every Client is looking for something different. And I genuinely love that! 😃.

I find inspiration everywhere

And I mean everywhere. I find inspiration in all kinds of architecture and design — from the grand churches of Europe to the stunning landscapes of South America, Australia, New Zealand and Antarctica, and everywhere in between. I once walked into a church in Mexico and came home with an idea for a Window Treatment that I still think about.

I have wandered through markets, lobbies, gardens, galleries and streetscapes in over 50 countries — 40 states — all seven continents. I say all seven continents, though I’ll be honest that Asia just counts because of Türkiye. 😄

Every year I also seek out what’s new and what’s next in the design world specifically — visiting Design Centers and meeting with designers and fabricators around the world to find out what’s trending there right now. What I’m hearing in London today is what will be popular in the US in the next two years. So when I sit with you in your Peachtree City or Fayetteville home and say “this is the color we should do” — there’s real knowledge behind that confidence. Not just a feeling. Not just instinct. Experience, research, and 32 years of knowing what makes a room truly extraordinary.

I have always had a natural eye for fabric and color — I get that from my Mom. Put me in a room full of samples and something just clicks. I love color and sparkle — and my superpower is working both into a room in ways that feel completely elegant and completely you.

I love to travel — so much so that my repeat Clients always ask the same thing the moment they see me — “where have you been since I last saw you?” I love that question. Many of them love to travel too, and sometimes our appointments turn into the best travel conversations. If you ever need a recommendation — I probably have one. 😄

When I’m not designing or traveling I’m home with my cats Peanut and Coco, who have very strong opinions about fabric choices and are not shy about sharing them.

For My Fellow Interior Designers

Window Treatments are my specialty — and I know that not every Interior Designer feels as comfortable with them as I do.

That’s completely okay!! After 32 years of designing, fabricating and installing Custom Window Treatments I’ve seen and done just about everything — every style, every size, every challenging situation. And I love sharing that expertise with my fellow design professionals.

If you’re local to the South Atlanta area, I’d love to work directly with you and your Clients as part of your team.

And if you’re further away, The Curtain Queen is my consulting service designed specifically for Interior Designers who want expert Window Treatment guidance for their own Clients — wherever they are. Because great design shouldn’t be limited by geography. 😃
