You’re wondering what a privacy layer is, right? It’s simply where we start — getting your light control and privacy right first, and everything beautiful follows from there.


Before we talk about color, style, or fabric selection, we talk about what you need your windows to do. How much light do you want to let in? How much do you want to keep out? Do you want your Shade to make a statement or disappear into the background? Take up a little space or a lot? Do you want privacy but still want to be able to see out?


Don’t worry — you don’t have to figure any of that out on your own. You tell me how you want the room to feel, and I will take it from there. That’s exactly what I’m here for. ❤️

Start With Your Foundation — Then Add Beautiful Layers

My personal philosophy? Everything needs fabric. And here’s what that looks like in practice.


Think of your window in layers. Your Shade, Blind, or Shutter is the foundation — giving you the light control and privacy you need. And then on top of that? That’s where the magic happens.


A Roller Shade under a gorgeous Valance. A Zebra Shade under a crisp Hard Cornice. A Woven Wood Roller Shade under beautiful Drapery Panels. The more layers, the more lush. The more lush, the more finished. And there is absolutely no rule that says you have to stop at one. 😃 Some of my most beautiful projects have three layers — a Blind for privacy, a Faux Roman Shade for softness, and Drapery Panels for drama. Every layer doing a different job. Every layer adding something the others can’t.


And here’s something I’m seeing a lot of right now — Clients who are taking out their Blinds and Shutters entirely and replacing them with functional Drapery. It’s a real trend and I love it. 😃

Roller Shades — Clean, Sleek and Surprisingly Versatile

Roller Shades have taken over the design world lately — and I completely understand why. They have a smaller profile than almost any other treatment, which means more of your window is visible when they’re open. Clean lines, minimal stack, maximum light.


And here’s something I’m genuinely excited about right now — Natural Woven Roller Shades. I had never seen anything like them until I discovered them from a premium supplier at the International Window Covering Expo. You get that beautiful organic, textural woven look — but in a Roller Shade format. All the warmth and personality of a Woven Wood Shade with a fraction of the profile. I cannot wait to start using these!! ❤️

  • Where do I even start with so many options?

    Start with your privacy layer!! That’s always my first question — what do you need this window to do? How much light control do you need? How much privacy? Once we answer that, your Shade, Blind or Shutter choice becomes much clearer. Then we add the beautiful layers on top. 😃

  • Do I need something over my Blinds or Shades?

    In my personal opinion — yes!! A window with only a Blind or Shade is functional but not finished. Adding even a simple Valance or Drapery Panel brings fabric, color, softness and warmth that makes the whole room feel complete. My Clients tell me all the time — once the fabric goes up, it finally feels like home. 💖

  • What’s the difference between a Roman Shade and a Roller Shade?

    Roman Shades are fabric treatments that fold up softly when raised — they look like a beautiful Valance when up and give you privacy when down. Roller Shades roll up into a compact roll at the top of the window for a clean, minimal look. Both are beautiful — the right choice depends on your style, your room and how much profile you want at the top of your window. 😃

  • Can Shades and Blinds be motorized?

    Absolutely!! Roman Shades and Roller Shades are our most popular motorized options — but Shutters, Wood Blinds, Zebra Shades and Outdoor Shades can be motorized too. If you’re interested in motorization, just ask!!

  • What makes your Shutters different?

    We work exclusively with a premium Shutter partner whose quality and craftsmanship I trust completely. Every Shutter is professionally measured and installed by our expert team — so you never have to worry about fit, finish or function. 💖

  • Can I layer treatments over my Shutters?

    Absolutely — and I love when Clients do!! Even a simple Valance over Shutters brings warmth, color and softness that transforms the whole room. Everything looks better with fabric. 😃

  • I’ve heard a lot of people are switching from Blinds and Shutters to Drapery. Is that true?

    It absolutely is — and I love this trend!! More and more Clients are taking out their Blinds and Shutters and replacing them with functional Drapery. Fabric just does everything better — it’s warmer, softer, more beautiful and makes a room feel completely finished in a way that hard treatments simply can’t. If you’re thinking about making the switch, let’s talk!! 💖

  • What is a Zebra Shade?

    A Zebra Shade is one of those things you have to see in person to truly appreciate! It’s a dual layer shade with alternating bands of sheer and solid fabric. When the bands line up, you get privacy. When they shift, you get light and a view. The result is beautiful, modern, and incredibly functional — the perfect blend between a Shade and a Blind. Once a Client sees them, she usually wants them everywhere. And honestly? I completely understand. 😃

  • What is top down bottom up?

    This is one of those options that people don’t know exists — and once they hear about it, they wonder how they ever lived without it! Top down bottom up allows you to lower your shade from the top OR raise it from the bottom — or both at the same time. So you get natural light streaming in from above while keeping complete privacy on the bottom half of your window. It’s available in Cellular Shades, Woven Wood Shades, and Roman Shades. Pure genius, if you ask me! 😃
